Getting To Terrapuri

Terrapuri Heritage Village Resort is located in Kampung Mangkuk, Setiu, Terengganu, on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is a 1 hour drive north from Kuala Terengganu city or Sultan Mahmud Airport. You can get there via driving, renting a car, or our private van transfers.

Getting to Terengganu:

By Air:
– Daily flights are available from Kuala Lumpur (KLIA/Subang) to Kuala Terengganu Airport (TGG) via Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Firefly, and Batik Air.
– Flight time is about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Self-Drive:
– Kuala Lumpur to Terrapuri: ~5 hours by car via Karak Highway and East Coast Expressway.
– Singapore/Johor Bahru to Terrapuri: ~7 hours by car via coastal route and East Coast Expressway.
– Penang to Terrapuri: ~8 hours by car via East West Highway and beach road.

By Bus/Coach:
– Express coaches depart daily from Kuala Lumpur (6–7 hours), Singapore (9.5 hours), Johor Bahru (9 hours), and Penang (9 hours).

*You can book van transfers to/from Terrapuri through our website directly! If you want us to pick up/drop you at a specific address in Kuala Terengganu or Kota Bharu, do mention the address in the checkout booking form.

  1. From/To Kuala Terengganu Airport or town: About 45 mins by van (approx. 70 km) – RM220 van transfer
  2. From/To Merang Jetty (for island transfers): About 30 minutes by van (approx. 35 km) – RM190.00 per transfer
  3. From/To Besut Jetty (for island transfers): About 1 hour by van (approx. 55 km) – RM450 per transfer
  4. From/To Kota Bharu Airport or town: About 2 hours by van (approx. 150 km) – RM 750.00 per transfer

Yes, you can easily book a GrabCar from Kuala Terengganu to Terrapuri Heritage Resort. However, please note that Terrapuri is located in a remote area, so finding available e-hailing rides for your return trip from Terrapuri to the city can be challenging. For a smooth and worry-free departure, we highly recommend arranging a private transfer with our team in advance.

Sultan Mahmud Airport is a 1 hour drive heading north to Terrapuri. There are 3rd party car rental services in the Sultan Mahmud airport. For advance arrangements, you may arrange with our team on WhatsApp.

Guests may request to upgrade their villa category by adding funds, subject to availability and management approval. It can be on-site (last-minute) but we prefer you to contact us in advance to check for availability. Downgrades to a lower villa category are not permitted.

In accordance with Malaysian government regulations, a Tourism Tax of RM10 per room per night will be collected from non-Malaysian guests upon check-in. This tax is applicable to all foreign passport holders and is not included in your booking rate. Malaysian citizens and permanent residents (MyKad/MyPR holders) are exempt from this tax. Please present your Malaysian identification or relevant visa documentation at check-in to confirm exemption.

Edit reservation date:
Guests may request to edit their booking dates. We may consider such requests in the event of genuine emergencies (such as medical issues, natural disasters, or other critical situations), subject to management approval and villa availability. Supporting documents may be required.

All payments are non-refundable and cancellations are not allowed. Reservation date changes may be considered only for emergencies such as natural disasters, serious illness, or unforeseen travel restrictions. To appeal, please contact our team with relevant details and supporting documents.

1) Firefly Boat Cruise (RM220/adult & RM110/child) – Departing from resort, 5 mins drive to jetty, cruise along the mangrove river at night to visit wonderful fireflies illuminating the darkness.

2) Setiu River Safari or Cruise (RM150/person & RM75/child) – Departing from resort, 25 minute drive to jetty, this serene journey takes you deep into the hinterland’s lush mangrove swamps, offering a unique opportunity to spot local wildlife.

3) Redang Island Tour & Snorkelling (RM318/person & RM250/child) – Departing from the resort, a 15-minute drive to the jetty, followed by a scenic speedboat ride to Redang Island’s pristine beaches and vibrant coral reefs. Enjoy guided snorkelling sessions, hand-feed tropical fish, and explore dazzling underwater gardens, with a delicious packed lunch provided for a perfect island adventure.

For staying Guests

Yes, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available for guests in our Sesayap Courtyard Garden (common area). Please note that Wi-Fi access is currently limited to this public space to preserve the tranquil heritage ambiance in our villas. Refer to our resort layout for Wifi zone.

Check-in is after 2:00 PM and check-out is by 12:00 PM. Late check-out until 5:00 PM is available for 50% of the room rate. After 5:00 PM, a full night’s rate will be charged.

  • Smoking Policy: For the comfort and safety of all, smoking is strictly prohibited inside all villas and throughout Terrapuri Heritage Village.
  • Check-in is after 2:00 PM and check-out is by 12:00 PM. Late check-out until 5:00 PM is available for 50% of the room rate. After 5:00 PM, a full night’s rate will be charged.
  • Villa Assignment: Specific villa assignments are subject to availability, and guests are unable to choose individual rooms. Please note that while villas of the same type (e.g., Superior, Deluxe) share core features and sizes, each is a meticulously restored heritage piece with its own unique character. This means individual villas may exhibit differences in design, antique furnishings, wood carvings, or minor extra details. To accurately represent this authentic variation and manage expectations, the main pictures displayed are randomly shuffled.
  • Mosquitos & bugs: As Terrapuri is nestled within a mangrove and wetland area, you may encounter mosquitoes, particularly in the evenings. We encourage guests to bring their preferred repellents, though complimentary mosquito and bug sprays are provided in all villas.
  • Cooling: Due to our wetland location, villas can feel warm during hot daytime weather. We recommend opening windows and doors, and utilizing ceiling fans for natural cooling, rather than relying solely on the air conditioner, to best experience the traditional ventilation of the villa.
  • Local Staff Language: As a community-based tourism initiative, all our dedicated staff are local residents from Penarik Village and are only proficient in basic English.
  • Authentic Immersion: To foster a unique heritage experience, our villas are intentionally free of televisions, radios, and IDD phones.
  • Wi-Fi access is only available in the common courtyard area.
  • Pool Safety: Please note there is no lifeguard on duty at the swimming pool, and swimming is at your own risk.
  • Accessibility Note: Due to its classic architectural design, Terrapuri Penarik may not be suitable for guests with physical disabilities.
  • Travel Insurance: Guests are advised to secure personal travel insurance, as the resort bears no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury to persons or belongings from any cause.

Yes you can. For curated meals please book at least 2 hours prior, the earlier the better as our staff team can prepare. For excursions as listed in our Adventures page, we suggest you to book a day earlier.

To ensure the comfort, cleanliness, and safety of all guests, pets are not permitted at the resort.
